A line covering many countries and content categories can easily bundle tens of thousands of entries, most of which any single household never watches. The app displays whatever the playlist contains; it has no built-in cap or filter applied at load time. That's why two people on the same app can have wildly different list sizes depending on which line they're using.

Player apps hold the entire channel list in memory while they run, and scrolling, searching, and category switching all work against that full set. Past roughly 18,000 visible channels, that memory load starts showing up as lag, delayed thumbnails, or occasional stalls when switching categories, especially on lower-power streaming boxes. Search and favorites both work against the same in-memory list, so a smaller visible list also makes search results return faster and makes building a favorites list less tedious. It has no effect on stream quality or buffering during actual playback, since those depend on your connection and the individual channel's bitrate, not on how many other channels happen to be loaded alongside it.
