iOS Setup — What Works on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

This is the platform-level guide. It covers what iOS and iPadOS allow, which devices still qualify, and where the boundaries are — the things worth knowing before you buy rather than while you are installing.

Step by step
What iOS requires, and what it will not allow
Read this once. It answers most of the questions people ask after they have already bought hardware.

Check the OS version first
Settings → General → About shows it. Current IPTV players target iOS and iPadOS 14 and later. Older releases can usually still install an older version of an app you have previously bought.
Tip · If a device is stuck below iOS 14 and cannot update, treat it as a secondary screen rather than your main one.

Understand the sideloading rule
Apple does not permit installing apps from outside the App Store on a standard iPhone or iPad. Every player must therefore be a listed App Store app.
Tip · Anyone telling you to install a configuration profile or use a developer certificate is asking for control of your device. Say no. It is not required and it never was.

Know which devices are genuinely past it
The 7th-generation iPod touch, which reached iOS 15, is the last iPod that works. Earlier iPods and any device capped at iOS 12 or below will not run current players.
Tip · iPad 5th generation and later, and iPhone 6s and later, all reached iOS 15. Anything in that bracket is fine.

Use one login everywhere
The same server URL, username and password work on every iOS device you own, with no per-device registration and no MAC bind of the sort smart TVs need.
Tip · Simultaneous playback is what counts against your plan. Ten installs and one stream is one connection in use.

Use the iPad properly
iPadOS gives you Split View and Picture in Picture, so a match can sit in the corner while you work. On M-series iPads, Stage Manager keeps the player in its own window.
Tip · Picture in Picture keeps playing when you leave the app, which also means it keeps consuming a connection. Close it rather than backgrounding it.

Check Screen Time and store region
Screen Time content restrictions can hide apps from the App Store entirely, and your Apple Account region decides what is listed at all.
Tip · If a player is invisible in search on one device but present on another, compare Screen Time settings before you blame the app.
Most common snag
An old iPad or iPod touch that cannot be updated
This is the limit we cannot engineer around, so it is worth stating plainly. Devices capped at iOS 12 or earlier — the iPad 4th generation, the iPhone 5s, iPod touch models before the 7th generation — cannot install current IPTV players, and no App Store trick changes that. Some players let you download an older compatible build if the app was previously purchased on that Apple Account, and that is the only route. Otherwise use the device for something else and watch on a phone, a Mac or a streaming stick.
