Smart TV Setup — App Store Install and Device-Key Bind

Support Lead

A smart TV needs no extra hardware at all: the player installs from the store already built into the set. The trade-off is that most TV players have no username field. Instead they show a device key or MAC address on first launch, and someone on our side has to attach that number to your line by hand. That is why eight minutes is the honest figure here rather than five.

If you already know your TV runs Tizen or webOS, the Samsung guide and the LG guide are more specific than this page. Everything else — Hisense, TCL, Philips, Panasonic, Sony — is covered below.

Step by step

Installing on a smart TV

Have your phone to hand. You will be photographing a number off the screen and sending it to support.

  1. 1

Work out what your TV actually runs

Samsung sets run Tizen. LG runs webOS. Many Sony, Philips and TCL sets run Android TV or Google TV. Hisense usually runs VIDAA. Some TCL and Hisense models are Roku TVs.

Tip · The store name gives it away: Smart Hub is Tizen, Content Store is webOS, Play Store is Android, App Store is VIDAA. A Roku TV needs the Roku guide instead.

  2. 2

Install IBO Player Pro, Smart STB, or IPTV Smarters Pro

Open the store and search for one of: IBO Player Pro (recommended), Smart STB, or IPTV Smarters Pro. On an Android or Google TV set, follow the Android steps instead — those sets take a normal Xtream Codes login.

Tip · If nothing sensible appears in search, your store region is probably the reason rather than your model. Support can tell you which of the three lists in your country.

  3. 3

Read the device key off the first screen

Launch the player. Before it asks for anything it will display a MAC address, a device key, or both. Photograph that screen — those characters are your login.

Tip · Write down which network you are on too. A TV's Wi-Fi adapter and its Ethernet port have different MAC addresses, and we bind the one you are actually using.

  4. 4

Send the key to support for binding

Message the photo to WhatsApp at 212704548494 or email [email protected], with the address you ordered under. We attach the key to your line manually.

Tip · This is the step that costs the extra minutes. Support runs 24/7, so it is usually a few minutes rather than a wait until morning.

  5. 5

Reopen the app and let the playlist arrive

Close the player fully and relaunch. Once the bind is live, the channel list and guide download on their own — there is nothing to type.

Tip · Still showing an error? Pull the TV power for 30 seconds. Many smart TVs keep the app suspended rather than closed, so it never re-checks.

  6. 6

Trim the list and fix the picture mode

Hide the country groups you will never watch — TV hardware is slow at scrolling 54,000 rows. Then set the picture mode to Movie or Filmmaker and turn motion smoothing off.

Tip · Motion smoothing is the setting that makes live sport look like video. It is on by default on almost every set sold.

Most common snag

It worked, then stopped after you changed the network

A device-key bind is tied to one network adapter. Move the TV from Wi-Fi to Ethernet, replace the router in a way that changes the adapter in use, or factory-reset a set that regenerates its key, and the number we bound no longer matches the number the app sends. The symptom is an app that used to work now saying unauthorized. The fix is one message: send the new key and we re-bind it. There is no charge and no limit on how often.

Device questions

What people ask about this one

My TV is from 2014 and the store has nothing useful. What now?
That is common and we would rather say so than sell you a workaround. Older sets get dropped by app developers long before the panel wears out. A streaming stick or a small Android box plugged into a spare HDMI port costs less than one month of cable, gives you a faster interface than the TV ever had, and takes a normal Xtream Codes login with no bind at all.
The TV app is asking me to pay for it. Is that you?
No, and none of it reaches us. Several smart TV players charge a small one-off activation fee to their own developer, typically a few dollars per device, because they cannot run ads on a TV. That is a separate transaction with the app maker. Your ip4ktv subscription is unaffected either way.
Will a smart TV app show real 4K?
It depends on the set and the app. Any 4K panel from about 2017 onwards decodes HEVC 2160p in hardware, so the panel is rarely the limit. TV player apps are more variable, and a few cap output at 1080p regardless. If a channel we label 4K looks soft on the TV app but sharp on a Firestick, the app is the reason.
How long does the bind take?
Usually a few minutes. Support answers 24 hours a day on WhatsApp, and binding is a small manual action rather than a queue. If you send the key and go and make a coffee, it is generally done before you sit down.

When you are ready

No extra box, no extra cables

Pick a plan, install the player from your TV's own store, and send us the device key. Support binds it by hand while you are still finding the remote.

No contract. 7-day money-back on every plan, trials excluded.

Stuck?

Send the device key and the error screen together

Two photos settle almost every smart TV problem: the splash screen with the key on it, and whatever error you are seeing. Send both to 212704548494 on WhatsApp or to [email protected], any hour.
