The app offers three, and they are not equivalent. Xtream Codes API takes a server URL, username and password, and returns live channels, movies and series as separate sections with guide data attached; it also re-syncs when the provider adds channels. A single M3U URL returns one flat list with no automatic split and usually no guide unless you add an XMLTV address yourself. The third option, a single stream URL, plays exactly one channel and exists for testing. Pick the API login unless your provider only issues an M3U line. If you were given a link that ends in get.php with a username and password inside it, the same credentials work in the API form.

Four causes cover almost all of it. The port is missing or wrong, so the app authenticates against the wrong endpoint and returns a partial catalog. A category filter from an earlier session is still hiding groups you now want. The line has expired, in which case a stale cached list often keeps showing while nothing plays. Or the first sync was interrupted and never completed. Work through them in that order: correct the URL and port, clear category filters, confirm the line is active, then log out of the profile and back in to force a full re-sync rather than reinstalling the app.

The app supports multiple profiles, so a second line is added exactly like the first: back out to the user list, choose Add User, and enter the second set of credentials. Switching profiles switches the whole catalog, which is also the clean way to keep a work-travel line separate from the family one. On our side installs are unlimited, so the same credentials can sit in profiles on several devices at once without any reactivation. What is capped is simultaneous playback, at 1 to 5 streams depending on the plan you chose, so a household running three rooms should pick at least three connections rather than counting devices.

Use the category controls before you use anything else. In the live section, open category management and uncheck every group you do not open in a normal week, then build a favorites list from what is left. This matters mechanically, not aesthetically: the app holds the visible list in memory and becomes unstable above roughly 18,000 visible channels, which is why a big catalog feels slow on a stick until it is pruned. After trimming, guide loading and channel changes both get noticeably faster, and on low-RAM devices the random crashes usually stop entirely.

The guide comes from XMLTV data the service publishes, matched to channels by identifier. With an API login it is fetched for you, so an empty guide usually means the first fetch has not finished, the app cached an old failure, or the identifiers do not match for a subset of channels. Force an EPG update from settings and give a large catalog a few minutes. If programs appear but sit an hour or two off, that is a timezone offset, correctable in the app rather than by changing your device clock. If only certain groups lack data, the gap is upstream in the guide file and reinstalling the app will not touch it.
