A 4K stream wants about 15 to 25 Mbps sustained and a 1080p stream about 5 to 8 Mbps, and every other device in the house is competing for the same pipe. Sticks are wireless only, so put the stick on the 5 GHz band and keep it in line of sight of the router where possible. If two people watch 4K at once, plan for 30 to 50 Mbps of headroom. Getting this right first means any problems you hit afterward are genuinely the service, not the room you put the stick in.

Amazon restricts most streaming players of this type in its own catalog, so the usual route is sideloading with a downloader utility, then signing in with credentials from your service. That step is about app distribution rather than anything to do with the subscription, and it is a one-time job of a few minutes per stick. What matters afterward is that the player is interchangeable. If a channel group fails, swapping players will not fix it, because the player never chose what the server sent. Keep the app and the line mentally separate and troubleshooting gets much shorter.

Player apps hold the visible channel list in memory, and a stick has far less of it than a phone or a computer. The way to tell is scope and the switch-back test: a single failing channel is a source problem, a whole group is server side, and if a stalled stream plays normally when you switch away and back, the session stalled rather than your bandwidth failing.
