What does a US household actually need to plug in?

Budget 5-8 Mbps and about 3 GB per hour for 1080p, and 15-25 Mbps and about 7 GB per hour for 4K. HEVC carries similar quality at roughly half the bitrate of H.264, so a modern stream on an older line often works when the arithmetic says it should not. Which equipment choice actually causes buffering?
Usually the router and the channel list, not the stick. Player apps hold the entire channel list in memory, and most destabilize somewhere above roughly 18,000 visible channels, so hiding groups you never watch is a genuine fix rather than housekeeping. Before changing any setting, check scope: one channel failing is a source problem, a whole group failing is server side, everything failing is your line, player or session. Then switch away and back. If playback recovers instantly, the session stalled and bandwidth was never the cause.
