Your app authenticates against a server, pulls a playlist of channels and VOD categories, and separately pulls EPG data that maps program schedules onto the live entries. When you tap a channel, the app requests the stream, which arrives as a sequence of short segments, roughly 6 seconds each, that it buffers and plays back to back. On-demand titles skip the schedule step entirely and just start playing the file you selected. Understanding this chain matters because a fault at any point — login, playlist, EPG, or the stream itself — produces a different symptom, and diagnosing it starts with knowing which step failed.

Because bandwidth, not the plan name, sets the ceiling. A 1080p stream needs about 5-8 Mbps sustained and uses around 3 GB an hour, while 4K needs roughly 15-25 Mbps and about 7 GB an hour. HEVC encoding, a newer codec used on many 4K streams, cuts that bitrate requirement roughly in half compared to older H.264 encoding, which is why two providers claiming '4K' can perform very differently on the same connection. If your home internet dips below the threshold during peak hours, the player will step down resolution or buffer, regardless of which Italian-language package you bought.

A live Italian-language channel runs on a fixed schedule you can't rewind past a limited buffer, and its EPG entry tells you what's airing and when the next program starts. An on-demand Italian title sits in a library section, starts and stops on command, and has no schedule at all. Sales pages that quote only a channel count blur this distinction, and a package that's mostly on-demand behaves nothing like one that's mostly live linear feeds. Before paying, check whether the specific content you want is in the live guide, the VOD library, or split across both.

Two device settings matter more than most people assume: setting the app's buffer to none or minimum reduces startup delay, and switching to a public DNS resolver can speed up channel changes and reduce lookup failures. Beyond that, confirm your device decodes HEVC if the stream uses it, since older hardware sometimes can't and falls back to a lower-quality stream or fails outright partway through. If a channel or a whole group hides unused entries, trimming the visible list can also help larger guides load and scroll more smoothly. None of these settings fix provider-side capacity issues, which is a separate problem worth checking a service's published uptime for before you blame your own setup.
